Without a doubt, Crater Lake in the Southern Oregon Cascades is one of the top attractions to visit in the Pacific Northwest. This place has been drawing visitors ever since shortly after it was discovered. The fact that a traveler can drive up to, and even all the way around, a dormant volcanic crater at the top of the mountain that has been filled with water, is incredible.
Something that not many travelers plan for when they get there though is a meal. Many bring snacks along in their vehicle because they’re on a road trip. Or it was a key destination for them so they knew that when visiting a landmark like this that a picnic can be a very good idea. A true pleasure awaits though at Crater Lake for those in the know as there is a full service restaurant operating there in the historic lodge.
The Crater Lake Lodge Dining Room features some of the best examples of northwest cuisine around. Visitors are welcome to dine there for breakfast (7:00am – 10:00am), lunch (11:30am – 2:30pm), or dinner (5:00pm – 10:00pm). All types of food are available too, with something for the appetite of both young and old.
One of the best parts about dining in the Crater Lake Lodge Dining Room is being able to absorb the atmosphere of this historic building while enjoying a meal. Travelers appreciate authenticism and that is available in that lodge in all sorts of ways. There are also several other convenient and interesting features about the lodge, including historical photos and maps, a gift shop, cafe, and plenty of places to look out the windows and view the lake itself.
When the meal is over, outdoor viewpoints are just a short walk away. But the lake will be waiting there just as it has for centuries, so vistors don’t need to rush through their meal. They should take the time to fully soak in all that is offered by the Crater Lake Lodge.
